  • I guess it all comes down to what you believe in.

    I was about three or four weeks into my unconventional rehab when I started questioning for the millionth time if the next consistent sunrise was something I wanted to see. Like most addicts, I burned my fair share of bridges chasing those 
  • Did you finally get clean or are you using...?

    When I was about eight years old, my dad bought three bikes, one for my two brothers and one for me. It was white with blue paint that faded from the front forks down half the frame. The wheels were painted white to match the latest trend in BMX   
  • Finding out what matters and your purpose

    One of my dad’s favorite sayings was “The best lesson in life is life itself” something I never truly understood until the day I realized I couldn’t function without one of my once prescribed pills.  You see my addiction was actually the best 
  • Do you remember your first suicide note?

    Do you remember your first suicide note? Do you remember who your anger was being directed at with each stroke of the pen? Do you remember whose face you seen through the tears I’m sure were flowing?  
  • Why on this earth would you do that?

    I think it's pretty safe to say that one of the most common questions people ask addicts is “How could you do that?” or “Why didn’t you just quit using?”. Both are very valid questions, but they are also very hard to understand if you have been 

  • Be Greedy its okay you're allowed to be

    One of the things I always hear when someone is trying to motivate an addict to get clean is  “Do it for your so on and so forth whoever loved one”, and even though I agree that a “so on and so forth whoever loved one” is a great motivator. 
  • Timing Is Everything… so don’t waste it

    Like most people battling addiction, I relapsed more than a couple of times before my unconventional rehab at my older brother's house a little over 6 years ago. It was while watching every episode of that old tv show about a shadowy flight 
  • Should or shouldn’t we talk about it?

    I guess it might be safe to say that most everyone has that book of things we don’t talk about with others. a place where we keep things like old pictures of us when our hairstyle and that someone we once dated might be considered questionable.
